In Deuteronomy 34 Moses was dead and yet the chapter is written in third person like all the other chapters and all the other Books of the Law. We are to assume that Genesis through Deuteronomy were composed when Moses was between 80 and 120 years old. That he was prepared to do this through out 80 years of extraordinary living. That he had pondered the oral traditions and his encounter with the Author of life that was to continue till his death. He heard God's name as Elohim, El Shaddai, Adonai, and of course Yaweh. For expedient purposes lets assume that he had a number of scribes. All problems solved. When Moses died he had people who had been around him some time and could write an epilogue themselves or technically with the help of Joshua. Remember that each chapter and each Book closely followed the other. And when Moses backtracked or inserted something that is out of sequence his scribes wrote everything down. There was no erasing, no rewriting. Almost nowhere can anyone see more than Moses with his scribes putting everything down, not the way modern writers would have done it; but, the way journalists in the field would write. This was miraculous without any exaggeration, and the reason we call this the Living Bible. I could go into specifics but I think this was what you wanted.
