The Bible says we should submit to people of authority as they are placed there by the hand of God. If you in fact, took a job (that I presume is union), then you have put yourself under the authority of the union leaders and therefore, it is my opinion, you should submit to the leadership's decision.
Just an opinion from my Biblical perspective, but I would certainly get on my knees and ask the LORD for wisdom and guidance my friend.
