I struggle with the fact that when I talk to God most times, I hear no immediate response. It is very unlike a human relationship, wherein at the time you talk to a person, you see or hear a response. What are some tips for making this adjustment, please?

This is definitely something that I think everyone goes through. And I used to have the same problem. There's an article on here that explains how God communicates with us: How Does God Communicate With Us Today? It's a good article and it should help you (as it helped me).

As for the emotional support, even though you may not hear an actual "voice" from God, it always helps me to cry out to Him when I'm in pain or feeling depressed. I feel like just talking with Him helps a lot.
