Is it weird that I am totally turned off by any kind of church?
I grew up in a very legalistic church that was full of hypocrites, and my family was personally burned by our pastor. I know that not all pastors and churches are like mine, but I feel like I know way too much about what goes on "behind closed doors" with church politics. My husband is also a minister, and I find myself holding him to an incredibly high standard, and when he falls short, I feel even more turned off by the church. I love Jesus, but sometimes I wonder if He truly wanted us to have organized worship like we have it, with times to "meet and greet," a bulletin with everything perfectly lined out...I keep falling back on Isaiah 29:13,
he Lord says:
"These people come near to me with their mouth
and honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
Their worship of me
is made up only of rules taught by men."
I'm just very turned off by church in general. Is this wrong of me?

I can understand holding your husband to a higher standard, him being a minister and all, but the truth is, he's as much a sinner as anyone else (this applies to all ministers and pastors, not just him): Romans 3:23 - "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God".
As for your original question, I too, sometimes, don't feel like going to Church. It's not necessarily being turned off by it, but I sometimes prefer to read and study the bible alone; or go on websites (like this one) and try and help people out to the best of my ability.
The best thing is to remember the above verse (Romans 3:23) and remember that by you pre-judging church members to be hypocrites, you are also being a hypocrite by incorrectly judging some of them. I used to do the exact same thing you are doing, so please understand I am not trying to be mean with that statement. It's just something I used to have to tell myself.
Answer: So if you are turned off by church because you are judging them all to be hypocrites, then yes I would say that is wrong. But if you are turned off because you like to worship God in other Christian ways, then no I don't see a problem with it.
