Jesus Christ is the Son of God, not David. Joseph, Jesus' human father, was a descendant of King David. Due to Jesus being adopted by his human father, Joseph, this would then make Jesus a "descendant" of King David since Joesph was "legally" Jesus' (human) father. The King James version does say "seed," but other translations like the New International Version or the New Living Translation make this clear for the reader by saying "descendant" or "David's family line."
