Why is he getting it? Is it for medical reasons or he just doesn't want children or any more children? Can his wife take birth control pills? If it's to avoid having children, is there possibly another way to get around it?
Here are verses that speak about procreation:
Psalm 127:3-5
"Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. 5 Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame
when he speaks with his enemies in the gate."
Genesis 1:28
"And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
I could not find a verse on vasectomy's, but I did find countless stories of men who later regretted having one. Although it's your friend's body, if he has a wife, his wife and him together make a unit so they both need to bring it to God. I suggest he does a 3 day fast and ask God for wisdom in this desicion. God will answer him, but he must remain open to the voice and the word of God.
This is a big step and I don't believe he should proceed without speaking to the Father about it. Tell him to go in prayer and fast for 3 day. Tell him to ask God for wisdom, and see if after the 3 days of fasting he still feels the same, but he needs to give God time to answer him.
Our bodies are the temple of God and I feel that any remodeling should be taken up with the Master Potter first for permission and guidance. Who knows if God has other plans in the future for him to procreate and have other children. Who knows if this child to be is going to be a great preacher and follower of Christ.
Only God knows our future and the outcome of all things. Have him consult with God before doing something he might later regret. Good luck.
