Romans 8:28
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
God doesn't do bad things, but He allows them to happen. We may not know the reasons why things happen to us, but God knows. The enemy many times makes bad things happen to us and our families in order to hurt us, but God turns all that around for His glory.
God always restores everything the enemy takes from us. Eventually we will see good things come from all the bad things that occur. I myself went through a horrible childhood experience and always questioned, "Why me?"
But today, although I don't know why I had to walk that exact route, God turned it around for good. The devil tied to destroy my life with that event, but through that event, God has made me a strong person today. Because of that past experience, I can help others survive the same ordeal and let them know that god is in control.
The past is the past and we cannot change it, however, we can most certainly learn from it and help others to cope and to survive just like we did. When we go through tragic times as children and we make it as adults, it was God who was watching over us and keeping us safe.
Because of your childhood, today I'm sure you're a much better and stronger person. I'm sure if you think back, you learned something from that experience, maybe even helped someone who went through the same type of suffering.
God does not waste a hurt nor does He waste a tear. Things do not happen in vain. Like the scripture said, "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God."
