At the time of the Great Tribulation, it is said "whoever desires to save his life, will lose it" We are told to prepare spiritually (which I understand completely). However, is it wrong then, to stock up on food (for the coming famine)?

Of course not. That was the purpose of the story of Joseph in the Book of Genesis. The one world government will have such a hold on nearly everyone that you might go months undetected. The problem lies that we as Christians must consistently be salt and light to the unsaved. Soon all the saints will be discovered and hated more than any other group that had gathered on the planet. Still until the Lord's Return, we live; we die for Jesus. How much groceries before some neighbor rats you out is totally up to you. ` Philippians 3 :20,21, For our citizenship is in Heaven, from which we also are looking for the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, Who will completely transform our body of humiliation, for it to be made like His glorious Body_ according to the almighty working of His Power, even to put all things under Himself. God Bless

There's the story of Joseph and the stockpiling for 7 years when food was in abundance waiting for the 7 years of famine. There also the scripture about sparrows: We are to trust of God and have faith that He will provide to our every needs. Matthew 6:26 says "Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?" I read the verse about the sparrows to mean we are not to fret, as the sparrow does not fret where his next meal will come from.

I think the answer here that we are to prepare ourselves, not only spiritually, but physically, mentally, financially and stockpile supplies while relying solely on God (faith) to get us through the tribulation period. I do not believe in any pre-tribulation rapture theology that's going around and believe we must be prepared for the worse as the Bible clearly says we are to do so. We are just not to fret as the great famine and plagues will be around us just as the slaves in Egypt experienced. Read Psalms 91:7-9 which I think will apply during the great tribulation period just as much as it did for the slaves in Egypt.

In His grip,
D.L.
