When someone dies does their spirit or soul immediately go to heaven or does that happen when Christ returns?

I have lost my mother and grandmother this year. Are they already in heaven with Christ, yes they are Believer. I often look up and wonder in they are already there, I misunderstand about the 2nd coming, all the dead will rise first. I hope the soul of them, the living part of them is in heaven. I talk to them often.

if you read the story of lazarus in (Luke 16:22-31) you will see that his spirit went on to heaven while another went to hell. i hope this answers your question. if you need any more give me some time and i will ellaborate more.
Two different subjects here. First subject/question is whether or not the spirit is immediately taken up to heaven and seated with the LORD upon the physical death of the body.
The answer to this question is Yes. Without a doubt based on Scripture. Not only does Paul talk about this subject in several of the epistles, as does Peter, but in the book of Matthew, we find this taking place after the resurrection of Christ. Matthew 27:50-53
Bottom line is that if you were crucified with Christ, then you will be raised in Christ.
The second coming, refers to the time when Christ will return to judge the world. At that point, the physical bodies of all believers will be resurrected and made new.
So, to you answer your question, you close your eyes and instantly, you are in the presence of the LORD.
