That's terrible because some people actually do this. He is however the head of the Catholic church (from what I know). I'm non-denominational so I don't know all of the specifics.

Im sure most people don't.And if they do,then they shouldnt and they are sining.They also think that Mary is a co mediatrix.So who knows who they will worship next.lol

Most people simply don't know any better. The pope is supposedly chosen by God to be his voice on earth, and the pope is infallible when he speaks under certain circumstances. He is not God and never will be, and popes have certainly made mistakes.
