It could be because of rituals that involved the sacrifice of goats, but to say that all goats represent The Devil in general terms is silly.

well the goat was not really chosen by christians to repersent satain but by satainist who where trying to mock christianity. Basicly saying if Jesus is the lamb then satain is the goat. That is why baphomet has a goats head
