Why does every church I have ever been in have a "White" Jesus?
Extra Question Details:
Every Parable, picture, painting and sculpture in the american christian churche, uses a 6ft tall, blue or brown eyed white Jesus. Why? He would have looked exactly like a short Osama Bin Laden so when did he het to be caucasian?

Answer to Your Question! "Jesus was a Jew. This means that He cannot be 'pure white'. Nor was He black. There is a mid to light brown coloring in semitic people which is what He would have had.
Spiritual analogies together with pictures of the glorified Jesus post-resurrection have no bearing on the question. It relates to how He was during His 33 or so years on the earth.
The depictions of Jesus in art are employing what we call 'artistic license', which sometimes is not in accord with reality.
It is interesting to note that Jesus couldn't of been white. The Bible takes place in the middle east and Jesus was middle eastern. Jesus was Jewish and most likely had olive skin, long dark curly hair, around 5 foot something as people of those days were not as tall as they are today, and dark colored eyes. He would of also been fit and muscular as he was a carpenter. If Jesus was white the Jews would of been terrified of him and ran for the hills as they would of naturally thought he was a Roman."
(I found this i didnt type this)
I agree with you 100%.. so why are all childrens books, bibles, pictures, paintings in the christian church of a handsome white jesus when he was on earth? One might think the church would use this as a way to "trick" children into beleiving something that is easier to grasp. Why the need for trickery? I can not find a logical answer, other then it is just that.... easier on the ol white christain eyes!
Jesus being depicted as white with brown hair and all that originally comes from the Roman Catholic church. I'm sure you've seen the picture of the 'sacred heart' where Jesus is pointing towards his heart that's got thorns on it and its bleeding, with another pic like that of Mary. So it all originated from the Catholic church probably around the Middle Ages, and from their everyone accepted Jesus as looking like that. The RCs probably did this bc they didn't imagine that Jesus being God would have flaws, so they tried to make Him as perfect as possible. (And in the world generally, fair skin is regarded more highly than any other.. and just in case you're wondering, im not being prejudice bc i myself am dark skinned!)
This is true and it should not surprise anyone anymore that Catholics are really good at misrepresenting things. But with that being said, why the need for the christians to follow thier trickery. It seems to me that children would be much more willing to serve/follow a pretty white Jesus as opposed to the dirty short dark Jesus which was reality. When he died and was resurected then great, "white" him up all you want. But in childrens parables and early stories and teachings, its completely false and misleading. Of course it makes sense to see the catholics change/hide the truth, but why the need for the christians to follow?
Guess its is just the mindset, the worldview for centuries, and who's going to change it now? Even Hindus depict their gods and goddess as perfect, white and pretty. I also think that if anyone tries to change Jesus' color in books and stuff it would be a case of racism : /
But don't let that bother you, just know where you stand in Him; He knows who He is! The world will mess things up, but at the end of the day His man-made looks are not important, whts important is your faith in Him.
yea... that's pretty much what i thought. The "world" messed him up? No it didn't..your pastor did....but hey, if it aint broke, don't fix it right?
Every church has an opportunity to represent Jesus anyway they wish. The Christian church chooses to mislead. Imagine if every one said "well we can't change it now, it's just been too long". Like slavery and a womans right to vote? What is a case of Racism is leaving him white. I wonder what other things in the christian religion are glossed up to make them prettier them they really are.
I think your looking at this all wrong. God is Spirit and He put His Spirit in us. Yes, he came to earth and he lived among us. He came through the line of Abraham to fulfill his covenant. His plan from the beginning of time has been about redemption for ALL mankind. He is not Jew or Catholic. His DNA is divine, so what does it matter how he looked on earth? He has been glorified and is beautiful! You can see His beauty throughout creation. It is reflected in nature, or in the eyes of a loving parent who can look at a deformed child and see them as nothing but beautiful! We waste so much energy when we attack one another over how tall or how dark he was. Just take time to know who He IS and in time, we will reflect Him!
