in the old testament there where not as many people on the earth almost everyone was family. For example Adam and Eve had son and daughters. There where not any other girls on earth so the sons married there sisters. Now as for multiple wives i'm not sure but i know that God has our best intrest in mind. And personally thats one rule i don't have a problem with at all.After Jesus came alot of rules changed so maybe i've just given you a small part of the answer. Hope this helped a little
